Museum of folk musical instruments named after Ykhlas

The museum building, decorated with carvings and folk Kazakh tracery, is an example of wooden architecture at the beginning of the last century. The museum’s collection contains not only Kazakh folk instruments but also instruments of Turkic peoples from more than 40 countries of the world. There are 8 exposition halls: the hall of the beginning of folk music, the hall of wind and percussion-noise instruments, the hall of memorial musical instruments, the hall of kobyz, the hall of masters, the hall of musical instruments of Turkic-speaking peoples, the hall of musical instruments of peoples of the world.

A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts

In the Museum of Arts, you can get acquainted with the exhibits of arts and crafts of the Kazakh people, as well as see paintings of Kazakh and foreign artists.

Almaty Museum

The museum of Almaty is a large scientific and cultural center, representing the whole range of historical and cultural heritage of the Zhetysu region. The museum collections include about 35 thousand exhibits. Among them are works of fine art, unique collections of Kazakh ethnography, as well as an ethnography of the peoples living nowadays in Almaty, collections of household items of different epochs and cultures, numismatics, photos, and documents.

The Medeu

Surrounded by the magical mountain scenery of Medeu Passage is the world’s largest high-altitude ice rink, as well as a dam that keeps the city safe from the devastating mudslides that form on the peaks of the Northern Tien Shan.
Medeu Ice Rink, located at an altitude of 1,691.2 meters above sea level, is known around the world. It was erected in 1972. The surface of the ice covers 10.5 thousand square meters, which allows for competitions in speed skating, hockey, and figure skating. The mild climate in the gorge, optimal level of solar radiation, low atmospheric pressure, gentle wind, and clear glacier water – all provided the high-mountainous skating rink wide popularity. The mountain valley was named after Medeu, a nomad who lived in the last century and built his aul in these picturesque places. The high-mountain skating rink is beautiful in any weather.

Ski resort Shymbulak

Ski resort Shymbulak is located in the picturesque gorge of Trans-Ili Alatau at an altitude of 2,260 meters above sea level, 25 km from the center of Almaty. To the height of 3163 m above sea level, the elevators start upwards. On the right and on the left there are majestic mountains with snowy slopes and evergreen Tien Shan firs. Shymbulak ski tracks are certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS). Downhill and slalom-giant slopes are rightly included in the top ten most difficult slopes of the world.

Ski resort Shymbulak is a marvelous place, where people get dizzy from the crystal clear air, their eyes diverge from the surrounding beauty, and their heart beats faster from the upcoming thrilling adventures. Here everyone will find a vacation to their liking.

Issyk Lake

At an altitude of 1,756 meters above sea level, there is a beautiful high-mountain lake Issyk, spread in the gorge of the same name. The lake was formed about 10 thousand years ago as a result of an enormous mountain collapse, the consequence of which was the formation of a natural dam about 300 meters high. On the shore of the lake, you can enjoy the inexpressible beauty of the Issyk gorge and the turquoise water surface.

Issyk State Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum

One of the most beautiful gorges in the Trans-Ili Alatau, the Issyk gorge, runs along the Kuldjinski Trakt, where trade caravans passed hundreds of years ago. On the way, you can get acquainted with the history and nature of this region, as well as with archeological monuments of Saka culture – burial mounds, where the famous “Golden Man” was found, which has become the state symbol of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Charyn Canyon

Charyn Canyon is a 154 km long canyon along the Charyn River in Kazakhstan. The canyon is located 195 km east of Almaty, near the border with China. Charyn Canyon is located on the territory of Charyn National Park, created to preserve natural and geological objects. The National Park was established on February 23, 2004. The park is home to a large number of rare and endangered animal species, which are included in the Red book.

Each part, each canyon is beautiful in its own way and very different from each other. The sheer walls of one section of the canyon, which is called the “Valley of Castles,” resemble the dotted towers of fairy castles, arches and pillars, silhouettes of animals and people, and even a cell phone. For its natural beauty, Castle Valley Canyon is often compared to the famous Grand Canyon in Colorado.

In the Sarytogai tract in the park are protected forests, where grows one of the most unique trees on earth – Sogdian ash, which existed in the Paleogene era. The ash grove is unique, the second such grove is in North America. The ash grove is a specially protected natural monument under the auspices of UNESCO. The age of the grove is approximately 5 million years.
